“Well I’m not really worried about this,
But could someone please answer me this,
Apart from on commentary,
Where else on Earth,
Can you hear the word ‘aplomb’ being used?”
The Man Don’t Give A Fuck - Super Furry Animals
The ultimate protest song from the Welsh rockers that uses a sample from the Steely Dan song “Show Biz Kids” - “You know they don’t give a fuck about anybody else”.
The cover of the single featured a picture of tragic former Cardiff and Reading footballer Robin Friday flicking the v’s to to Luton Town goalkeeper Milija Aleksic. The sleeve featured a dedication to Friday “and his stand against the ‘Man’” alongside the Welsh proverb “Stwffiwch y dolig ddim y twrci” which roughly translates into English as “Stuff Christmas not a turkey”

“You’ve got Billy tattooed on your neck,
And a Union Jack above your bed,
You’ve got nothing intelligent to say,
And no-one’s listening, to you anyway,
‘Cause you’re a big fat bigoted arsehole”
“Inspired by the iconic sleeve of Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures album, this Waves Mickey Mouse Tee incorporates Mickey’s image within the graphic of the pulse of a star. That’s appropriate given few stars have made bigger waves than Mickey!”
Now I’ve heard of Joy Division Over Gloves but this takes the piss!

Simply the best.
RIP Joe Strummer.
Just pre-ordered Gruff Rhys’ new Christmas EP, “Atheist Christmas”, which comes out December 19th. The EP is a secular take on the festive period imbued with the type of melancholy we’ve all come to expect from Chrimbo because we know its not all laughs and jokes for everybody (well, hardly anybody really after the amount of carbs and crap jokes you ingested by the time Doctor Who comes on).
No doubt to become a new family Christmas favourite. Here’s a track from the EP - “Slashed Wrists This Christmas”
Exciting times! The new Half Man Half Biscuit LP, ‘90 Bisodol (Crimond)’, gets released on the 26th of September. Pre-order it from the Probe Plus Website.
I can’t wait for this to be released and will be in attendance at their Leamington Spa gig to hear the new songs first hand.
Check out one of the tracks, L’Enfer C’est Les Autres, as performed on BBC 6 Music last year. Still as sardonic and hilarious as ever.
